FO, WIPS and Possibilities

September 20, 2012

Things are flying off the needles around here (which is good considering Christmas is only 96 days away. I will wait while you recover a little) it also means I actually have very little on the needles at the moment, which is actually quite unusual for me. I usually have a good six to eight projects on the needle at any one time and right now I am actually sitting at three (one being in hibernation, one awaiting judgement on whether to frog or not.) So really it is just one little project hanging out all alone.

These are the lone project, a pair of socks for my husband.

Yarn: Premier Yarns Serenity Sock Weight- Woodsy Green. Pattern: My own creation

Luckily I did get a few things finished this week:

First up stripey mittens. I ended up being off in my count for identical mitts, and in the end I ran out of yarn to make the thumbs identical anyway.

Yarn: Knit Picks Felici- Botany. Pattern:Basic Mitts with an afterthought Thumb

The second item on my list was a quick and easy striped cowl. I made this to compliment the blue striped mittens I made a week or two ago.

Yarn: Simply Soft-DK Country, Berry Blue. Pattern: Made up

This cowl was a first for me, in that I mastered the jogless stripe (a problem with the mittens that I haven’t decided if I can live with or not) as well as a cable cast on and sewn bind off.

In terms of upcoming projects I do have quite a few for the holidays I still need to accomplish, but I am having a tough time finding anything I like at the moment. Here’s hoping inspiration strikes soon.

  1. Ugh, I totally know the feeling! I went from having so many projects at once to not knowing what to start. As I discovered, though, the feeling will pass and inspiration comes back on its own when you’re ready. Plus, in my case, a yarn shop crawl with my friends and a bit of time flipping through patterns on Ravelry were helpful too. Oh, and whining, lots of whining. (Okay, not sure that helped but it is what I did…luckily the readers of my blog were kind about it). 🙂
